The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows across the bustling streets of Pundit Advik Market. Armaan’s heart raced, a mix of fear and determination fueling his every thought. He clutched the handlebars of the bike as Aarav expertly weaved through the throngs of people, the hum of the city a chaotic backdrop to his turbulent mind. The weight of his family’s fate and the recent revelation that time itself was malleable pressed heavily on his chest.
“Okay, bro!” Aarav shouted over the roar of the engine. “Here we are. Let’s start our investigation from nearby people.”
Armaan nodded, his gaze unfocused, lost in the possibilities. The world felt surreal, as if reality itself was a fragile thread just waiting to snap. He took a deep breath, grounding himself. “Let’s split up for a while,” he suggested, trying to sound more composed than he felt.
“Right. I’ll hit the shops on the right. You go ask the locals,” Aarav replied, his voice steady, but Armaan could sense the tension coiling beneath the surface.
As they parted ways, Armaan scanned the market. The vibrant colors of the stalls and the enticing aromas wafting from food vendors felt distant, like a world he no longer belonged to. He approached a group of men gathered around a Dhaba pan shop, their laughter ringing out like a bell, sharp and loud against the somber backdrop of his thoughts.
“Excuse me,” he began, his voice shaking slightly. “I’m looking for someone. A man with a burnt scar on his left cheek and a mustache.”
The men exchanged glances, their laughter fading. Most shook their heads, but one, the shop owner, studied Armaan with narrowed eyes. “Dangerous man,” he said, his voice low and gravelly. “Comes here for tea sometimes. Best not to seek him out.”
Armaan felt a flicker of hope. “Where can I find him?”
The owner pointed toward a narrow alley, his expression grave. “Just be careful. He doesn’t take kindly to questions.”
“Thank you,” Armaan replied, his stomach twisting with anxiety. He hurried back to the meeting point, where he found Aarav pacing, his brow furrowed with worry.
“I’ve…” Armaan started, but Aarav cut him off.
“He is…” Aarav’s eyes widened, disbelief washing over his face. “Oh man! This person really does exist. I thought you were mad.”
“I was really upset at the news,” Armaan said, feeling the familiar ache of grief. “You participated in our family’s Atim Sanskaar. It needs a lot of explanation, but did you find any clue?”
Aarav’s voice dropped to a whisper, urgency threading through his words. “He lives nearby in the next alley, maybe. The tailor said he’s a lazy person who only appears on weekends.”
With a sense of purpose igniting within them, the two friends returned to Armaan’s house.

They stepped inside the house, a wave of warmth enveloped them, but it was quickly overshadowed by the reality of their situation. Zara stood in the living room, her presence both a balm and a reminder of their loss.
“Aarav!” she exclaimed, her expression a mix of surprise and relief. “You… you were at my funeral?”
Aarav scratched the back of his head, his eyes darting between the siblings. “Yeah, it was… surreal. But you look very much alive now,” he said, forcing a smile.
Zara’s gaze shifted to Armaan, concern etched on her face. “Did you tell him everything?”
Armaan nodded. “Yes. All of it.”
The trio stood in a tense silence, the weight of their shared tragedy hanging in the air. Finally, Aarav broke the silence with a mischievous grin. “So, who’s going to take the role of the beggar?”
Armaan and Zara exchanged puzzled looks, and Zara raised an eyebrow. “You’re joking, right?”
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Aarav laughed, a spark of mischief igniting in his eyes. “Fine! It’s me, as always!”
Zara chuckled, the sound a small comfort amidst their turmoil. “Okay, then. Let’s do this.”
After half an hour of planning, they settled on their strategy. Armaan would disguise himself as a hawker, while Aarav would take on the role of the beggar. Zara, with her keen instincts, would keep watch for any signs of the mysterious stranger.

As the three of them ventured into the alley, Armaan felt the adrenaline coursing through him. The narrow path was dimly lit, the air thick with anticipation. He set up his stall, pretending to sell trinkets, his heart racing as he scanned the shadows for any sign of the man they sought.
Aarav, draped in ragged clothes, positioned himself nearby, his eyes darting around with exaggerated caution. “How do I look?” he whispered, voice laced with humor.
“Like a million bucks,” Armaan replied, a smirk tugging at his lips despite the seriousness of their mission.
Hours passed, the sun dipping below the horizon, casting an eerie glow over the alley. Just as Armaan began to lose hope, he spotted a figure emerging from the shadows. The man had a pronounced scar on his left cheek and a mustache that curled upwards, just as they had been told.
“Stay sharp,” Armaan whispered to Aarav, his heart pounding in his chest as they moved to intercept the stranger.
“Hey!” Aarav called out, his voice steady despite the tension in his body. “We need to talk to you!”
The man turned, his expression shifting to annoyance. “What do you want?” he replied, eyeing them warily.
“About a device,” Armaan started, stepping closer. “A humming device. It was given to me.”
The stranger’s eyes narrowed. “You should leave this alone.”
“Why?” Armaan pressed, refusing to back down. “You know something. We need answers.”
The man hesitated, and for a moment, doubt flickered across his face. “You don’t understand the risks involved,” he warned, his voice low and dangerous.
“Try us,” Aarav challenged, crossing his arms.
The stranger sighed, his shoulders slumping. “Fine. But you’re meddling with things beyond your comprehension. First let’s go to the tea house, I need a fresh cup of tea first.”

They sat in a quiet corner of the tea house gazes fixed at the stranger. “What are you?” Armaan demanded, frustration boiling over. “Just tell us what you know!”
“Alright,” the man replied, his gaze shifting nervously. “I’m Kiaan Malhotra, an illuminati representative. I sell rare antiques to the shopkeeper on behalf of the organization.”
Armaan’s heart raced. “You’re the one who gave me the humming device, aren’t you?”
Kiaan nodded slowly, his expression unreadable. “But you’ve committed a grave mistake. The time fluctuation cannot be undone unless—”
Armaan felt a chill creep down his spine. “Unless what?”
“Unless one of you takes Zara’s place,” Kiaan revealed, his voice steady. “Then the timeline can be balanced. Otherwise, she must die for your family to return.”
Zara gasped, taking a step back, her face pale. “No! You can’t be serious!”
“It’s the only way,” Kiaan insisted, his eyes glinting with an unsettling intensity. “You’ve altered fate, and now it demands a price.”
Armaan’s mind whirled, the implications crashing over him like a tidal wave. “You’re telling me that I have to sacrifice my sister?”
“Not just her,” Kiaan replied, his voice dripping with urgency. “You both must understand the gravity of what you’ve done. Time doesn’t forgive easily.”
Aarav stepped forward, fists clenched. “You can’t just stand there and say this! We didn’t ask for any of this!”
Kiaan’s gaze hardened. “You should have thought of that before you meddled with the past. The universe has a way of restoring balance, and right now, it’s out of whack.”
Armaan felt his heart racing. “But there has to be another way! We can’t just accept this!”
Kiaan shrugged, the weight of his words heavy in the air. “You’ve already sealed your fate, and now you must confront the consequences. But know this: the choice is yours.”
As the reality of their situation sank in, Armaan felt the ground shift beneath him. It was a cruel twist of destiny, one that would change everything. He looked at Zara, her eyes wide with fear, and the bond they shared felt more fragile than ever.
“Zara…” he started, his voice thick with emotion.
“Don’t say it!” she interrupted, shaking her head. “We’ll figure this out. We have to.”
Armaan and Aarav exchanged a glance, the weight of their choices hanging heavily between them. They had come so far, but at what cost? The stakes had never been higher, and as the shadows deepened around them, Armaan knew that the battle for their future had only just begun.
They stood together, facing Kiaan, brimming with uncertainty but fueled by a fierce determination. “We won’t let destiny dictate our lives,” Armaan declared, his voice steady despite the storm raging inside him. “We will find another way.”
Kiaan regarded them with a mix of respect and pity, a faint smile playing on his lips. “Then prepare yourselves. The journey ahead will test your resolve like never before.”
With that, he turned and left the tea house, leaving Armaan, Zara, and Aarav standing at the precipice of their fate, the echoes of their choices reverberating in the stillness of the night. The path ahead was fraught with danger, but they would face it together, bound by love and the unbreakable ties of family.
