As Alex regained consciousness, a mysterious figure emerged from the shadows, holding a silenced gun in their hand. They quickly made a call, discussing what to do with their unconscious target.

A woman’s voice on the other end suggested interrogation to extract secrets from Alex about the resistance. The voice sounded vaguely familiar. The mysterious figure bound Alex to a chair and covered his mouth with tape.

Moments later, there was a knock at the door.  The figure cautiously opened it to reveal Anna, wearing a triumphant smile on her face. If Alex had seen her at that moment, he would have recoiled in fear.

Anna exchanged a knowing smile with the mysterious figure,

The person smiled at Anna and remarked, “Fantastic! He was deceiving himself rather than us.”

Anna laughed and boasted, “No Shaheen, we are a superior race. No human can escape us. I’ve been spying on this fool for a long time, and he wasn’t even aware of it.”

Disgusted, the person named Shaheen asked, “What should we do with him now?” Anna smiled and declared, “Now, we will extract the secrets from him. Who is the leader of the resistance? Where is their main base? After that, it would be best to dispose of him.”

Anna ordered Shaheen to splash water on Alex’s face and wake him up. As Alex regained consciousness, his eyes locked onto Anna and the mysterious figure before him, sending shivers down his spine.

He felt as if the ground had been ripped out from beneath him. With an air of triumph, Anna approached Alex and placed her hand on his chin, lifting his face towards hers.

In that moment, her eyes transformed into reptilian slits, revealing her true identity. Alex stared back at Anna with a mix of sorrow and disbelief, witnessing the transformation firsthand.

Anna left his chin and snorted in sarcasm, clapping her hands together, saying, “Well done! You’ve turned out to be quite the hero. I didn’t expect my victim to slip away so easily, especially from our own base.”

Anger welled up inside Alex, but he remained silent due to the tape covering his mouth Prompted by Anna, Shaheen removed the tape, but Alex knew better than to make a scene. He had been instructed to keep the supernatural world a secret.

“You’ve proven to be smarter than I anticipated,” Alex responded patiently. Anna proudly retorted, “You don’t understand our nation. We have ruled over people for centuries. I might spare you if you reveal the secrets of your mysterious organization.”

In a mix of grief and anger, Alex replied, “We are not your slaves. We have the same right to freedom as you do.” Anna smiled condescendingly and claimed, “You don’t comprehend the power we possess.

We are the true gods and masters of your human world.” Infuriated, Alex retorted, “You are even worse than those unseen gods worshipped in this world.”

Anna condescended, saying, “You’re still a child, Alex. Our duty is to hide our secrets while taking down any traitors who know our truth.”

Shaheen interjected lazily, “Enough with this nonsense. Let’s get to work.” Anna looked at Alex with a twisted expression of love and said, “Tell us exactly who is in The Resistance. Particularly its leader and main base.”

Alex smiled at Anna and replied, “If you could know about me, you may know about others too.”

Anna responded venomously, “I also know the dog who recruited you into his army. But I want to know about every member, especially the one who founded The Resistance.”

Alex suppressed a smile and said, “Why not? I’m willing to divulge all the secrets. But first, make me a promise. Promise to… forgive me.” Anna’s disgust at Alex’s sarcastic smile grew, and she stepped forward, slapping him across the face.

It had been five minutes since Alex woke up, and he estimated he had only one more minute until a miracle could happen. Anna instructed Shaheen to extract information from Alex by any means necessary.

Shaheen, stepping forward with a yawn, addressed Alex, “We’re followers of the order, kid. Don’t take my word lightly if you don’t want to get hurt.”

As Shaheen approached Alex with an air of nonchalance, the door swung open, revealing two shadowy figures armed with pistols. Without hesitation, they fired at Anna and Shaheen, leaving them paralyzed on the ground.

Unbeknownst to Anna and Shaheen, Alex had a ring on his left hand with a secret button – an alarm used by members of the resistance. As soon as he regained consciousness, Alex pressed the button, alerting the headquarters of the Resistance.

Rescue was dispatched immediately upon receiving the alarm. The person emerged from the shadows was Anthony, one of the five team members who rescued hostages from the demons of the Avalon City, Anothny entered the room with a smile on his face.

He asked Alex, “Hey kid, are you ok?”

Alex responded with mixed emotions of sadness and happiness, “Nay Boss! For now, I’m unharmed. But if you had been a few seconds late, that guy might have had his way with me! Hahaa!”

Anthony laughed and said, “Well, we’ve learned some valuable lessons. So what’s wrong with that?”

Another person accompanying Anthony chimed in, “We need to act swiftly. No time for idle chatter. Let’s take them both to headquarters for interrogations.”

Anthony untied Alex as he burst into laughter and said, “She underestimated the power of humanity. I managed to keep her engaged in conversation for a good five minutes.”

Anthony interjected, “Enough talking then. We could easily find ourselves in their position again. Let’s hurry!”

The other person added, “Their reinforcements could be on their way too, so let’s move quickly!”

Alex suggested, “The hotel has a back door. We can use it without being seen. Let’s go.”

Anthony replied with a chuckle, “Nice! We came here from the same place, huh?”

Once outside, they placed Anna and Shaheen’s unconscious bodies in the trunk of a car. The trio headed back to the resistance base in silence, with Alex recounting his encounters and how he had fallen into Anna’s trap once again.

Alex glanced at Anthony’s emotionless face through the rearview mirror.

Anothny said, “It’s been 15 years since I joined The Resistance. I’ve seen and heard things unimaginable to most, and yet I’m only ranked 20th in the Resistance.”

Alex felt embarrassed, like a 10-year-old child who had shared a childish story with a wise elder.

Realizing the situation, Anthony comforted him, saying, “Kid, you’re still young and new to this. Your abilities will grow with time. The reality of the world is bitter and harsh. We must proceed with utmost secrecy and patience.”

Lost in a whirlwind of thoughts and words, the three partners pressed on towards their base.

The outcome of this battle remained uncertain, leaving them pondering who would emerge victorious and who would fall in the face of impending challenges.

The fate of the world hung in the balance, its destiny teetering on a precarious edge.

What was once believed to be a sanctuary bestowed by the divine gods had transformed into a chaotic jungle and a confining zoo, where humanity found themselves trapped within their own confines.
